Timing, fare and terminal notes
Courtice is Clarington's west end and its quickest run to the airport.
Courtice is Clarington's west end and its quickest run to the airport. Most homes are a few minutes from the Courtice Road interchange, so the car is on the 401 almost as soon as it leaves your street, and the trip to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) covers about 80 km. With traffic moving, that's about 65 minutes to the Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 curb, the shortest drive in the municipality, which is why Courtice has the lowest fare: $160 CAD flat, HST included.
Pickups cover all of Courtice, from the streets off Townline Road on the west side to Farewell Heights and the newer subdivisions east of Courtice Road, with King Street and Bloor Street in between. Highway 418 joins the 401 just east of Courtice Road and runs north to the 407. The 418 and the 407 east of Brock Road are both toll-free now, so a rider who asks for the 407 on a busy weekday afternoon pays only the toll on the 407 ETR west of Brock Road, at cost.
Flying home into YYZ, the driver tracks your flight, picks you up at Door A on the Arrivals level, and takes the 401 east to the Courtice Road exit, about 65 minutes later. The fare is $160 CAD in that direction too, and a landing after midnight costs the same as one in the afternoon.
$160 CAD with HST included, the lowest fare in Clarington, because Courtice is the closest part of the municipality to the airport. The same fare applies on the way home from Pearson to any Courtice address. A toll for the 407, if you ask for that route, is the only addition.
Distance. Courtice is about six kilometres closer to Pearson than downtown Bowmanville, and the zone fares are set from the airport's own posted rates for each area, so the closer zone costs less. Homes east of Courtice that have a Bowmanville mailing address are in the Bowmanville zone.
Yes, if you ask. Highway 418 meets the 401 just east of Courtice Road and leads north to the 407. The 418 and the 407 east of Brock Road charge no tolls, but the 407 ETR west of Brock Road does, and you pay that toll at cost on top of the fare. It's worth it mainly on weekday afternoons; before 6 a.m. the 401 is usually just as quick.
