Courtice to Pearson Airport
Courtice is Clarington's west end and its quickest run to the airport.
Timing, fare and terminal notes
From the town hall on Temperance Street, the 401 is about five minutes away: south on Liberty Street to its interchange, or west along King Street to Bowmanville Avenue.
From the town hall on Temperance Street, the 401 is about five minutes away: south on Liberty Street to its interchange, or west along King Street to Bowmanville Avenue. After that the trip is one long westbound stretch past Courtice, over the Rouge River and through Scarborough to the airport ramps at Highway 409. With traffic moving, the run from downtown Bowmanville to the Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 curb at Toronto Pearson (YYZ) takes about 70 minutes, and the flat fare from anywhere in town is $165 CAD with HST included.
The whole town is one zone: the blocks around the downtown, Northglen and Brookhill to the north, the streets near Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Liberty, and the lakeshore at Port Darlington. The driver comes to the door and loads the bags. If your building has more than one entrance, or the house is easy to miss in the dark, a line in the booking notes saves a phone call at 4 a.m. Name your airline when you book, and the car stops at the departures doors nearest its check-in counters.
Coming back, the route runs the other way. The driver follows your flight number into YYZ, waits through customs and the baggage belt at no extra charge, and meets you at Door A on the Arrivals level, the pre-arranged pickup point at both terminals. Then it's the 409 to the 401 east and off at Liberty Street, about 70 minutes to downtown, for the same $165 CAD. Without a car, the transit alternative is the GO 88 bus from the Bowmanville park-and-ride on Clarington Boulevard to Durham College Oshawa GO, the Lakeshore East train to Union, then the UP Express out to Pearson: three vehicles and a lot of lifting with luggage. A GO train extension to Bowmanville is under construction, with no opening date yet.
$165 CAD with HST included, from any address in Bowmanville, from the downtown blocks to Port Darlington. It's the same for the ride home from the airport to a Bowmanville address. The fare doesn't rise for traffic, early hours or weekends. If you ask for the 407, its toll is added at cost; nothing else is.
Usually Liberty Street, a short run south from King Street. From the west end of town, Bowmanville Avenue is closer, and both put you on the 401 westbound within minutes. On the way home the driver exits at whichever is nearer your street. The fare is the same either way.
A pickup between 4 and 4:30 a.m. suits most 7 a.m. departures: about 70 minutes on an empty 401, plus the two hours most airlines want for a domestic check-in. For a US or international flight, make it 3:30 a.m. Book the night before at the latest; the driver texts when they're outside, so you're not watching the window.
